PomoForest β€” Free Pomodoro Timer with Ambient Music and Wallpapers

An online tool to help you
study, work, and stay in flow

PomoForest is a free pomodoro timer with ambient video backgrounds, static wallpapers, preview-based background selection, and a private local music player. Whether you're studying for an exam, writing code, or working through a creative project, PomoForest gives you a calm environment to stay in deep concentration for longer.

⏱️

Precision Countdown Timer

Set any duration up to 5 hours using the interactive slider. The timer counts down with second-level accuracy and displays your remaining time in HH:MM:SS format. Once your session ends, the display shows "Finished" so you always know when to take a break.

🎡

Private Local Music Player

Upload your own MP3, WAV, or any audio file directly from your device. PomoForest comes pre-loaded with a built-in lofi track and a piano ambient. All files are processed entirely in your browser β€” nothing is ever uploaded to any server.

🌿

Ambient Videos and Static Wallpapers

Choose from looping nature videos and static wallpapers including forests, misty roads, snowy scenes, and calm illustrated landscapes. Click the ... button in the top-right corner to open the background menu and preview each option before switching your atmosphere.

πŸ”’

100% Private β€” No Account Needed

PomoForest requires no sign-up, no login, and no personal data. Your music files stay strictly on your machine. There is no tracking of your sessions and no data sent to third-party services.

🎧

Animated Sound Wave Visualizer

While your music plays, a real-time animated sound wave responds to the audio playback state, giving you a visual cue that your music is active. The animation smoothly transitions when you pause or resume tracks.

⚑

Works Instantly β€” No Install

PomoForest loads fast and requires no installation. Open it in any modern browser on desktop or mobile and you're ready to go. Backgrounds load on demand, and video previews stay static to reduce unnecessary data usage.

How to use PomoForest

Getting started takes less than 10 seconds. There's nothing to install or configure β€” just open the page and follow these steps to begin your first pomodoro session.

1

Set your focus duration with the slider

Drag the green slider underneath the timer to set how long you want to focus. The slider supports durations from 1 minute up to 5 hours. The timer display updates live as you drag.

2

Press START to begin your session

Hit START to begin counting down. The slider locks during an active session. You can pause at any moment and resume right where you left off β€” the timer uses precise timestamp-based tracking so it stays accurate even if your tab runs in the background.

3

Pick your background scene

Use the arrow buttons to move quickly between backgrounds, or click the ... button in the top-right corner to open the minimal background menu. The menu shows previews so you can choose a specific animated video or static wallpaper. Each switch uses a smooth fade transition.

4

Play music or upload your own tracks

Use the play/pause button in the top bar to start the built-in lofi or piano ambient tracks. Click ADD MUSIC to upload any audio file from your device β€” it's added to the playlist instantly and starts playing right away.

5

Make it feel more immersive

For a deeper focus atmosphere, press F11 to enter fullscreen mode and let the wallpaper fill your screen. Press F11 again whenever you want to return to the normal browser view.

6

Take a break when the timer finishes

When your session ends, the display shows "Finished." Step away, rest your eyes, and stretch. Then come back, hit RESET, and start your next pomodoro refreshed.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The core idea is simple: break your work into focused intervals β€” traditionally 25 minutes long β€” separated by short breaks. Each interval is called a "pomodoro" (Italian for tomato, after the kitchen timer Cirillo used as a student).

After four consecutive pomodoros, you take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes. This rhythm trains your brain to focus intensely for short bursts while protecting against mental fatigue. Regular breaks improve both focus and retention, and switching off briefly boosts creative problem-solving when you return.

PomoForest is flexible β€” you don't have to follow the strict 25-minute rule. Many people prefer 50-minute deep work blocks with 10-minute breaks, or 90-minute sessions aligned with the brain's natural ultradian rhythm. Use the slider to set whatever interval works best for you.

πŸ… Classic Pomodoro 25 min
🧠 Deep Work Block 50 min
⚑ Ultradian Cycle 90 min
β˜• Short Break 5–10 min
πŸ›‹οΈ Long Break 15–30 min

Yes, PomoForest is completely free to use. There are no premium tiers, no paywalled features, no subscription required, and no account needed.
